OLD-TIME ROOT BEER

In 1985, Millstream Brewing Company opened its doors-- the first microbrewery in Iowa , and the first brewery to operate in the Amana Colonies in over 100 years.  In the years since, there has been an explosion of microbreweries and brewpubs across the United States .   Millstream Brewery has become the oldest operating brewery in Iowa and one of the oldest operating breweries in the nation.  While Millstream Brewery is a small family owned business, it produces 9 different high quality brews throughout the year.  Two of these brews are nationally award winners!

In 1995 the Old-time Root Beer was added to the quality brews produced at the brewery and was an instant hit.  The owners of the brewery wanted to add a top of the line root beer that would be very distinct from all the other root beers out there and would “knock your socks off” with its richness.

Millstream Brewery is located in the historic Amana Colonies in Iowa .  The Amana Colonies is a 150 year old historical communal German village.  Amana is known for their hand-crafted and quality furniture, food, meats, wines, beers and other hand-made products.  The owners of the Brewery take pride in that they still brew, bottle and sell this fabulous homemade root beer themselves…. one bottle at a time!
